Dr. Andrew LaPre

Principal Engineer/Scientist

Dr. LaPré joined FTL Labs after serving as a doctoral researcher in the Mechatronics and Robotics Lab at UMass Amherst. His specialty is assistive robotic technologies and human machine interaction. He has designed and tested wearable, low-profile EMG electrodes for inside prosthetic sockets to monitor muscular firing patterns, and has designed a non-anthropomorphic transtibial prosthesis for efficient amputee gait. He performed simulation and design studies on prostheses, and is proficient in simulation of human movement using MATLAB and OpenSim.
