Dr. Andrew LaPre

Principal Engineer/Scientist

Dr. LaPré joined FTL Labs after serving as a doctoral researcher in the Mechatronics and Robotics Lab at UMass Amherst, with expertise in assistive robotic technologies, optimization, and human-device interaction via simulation. He has designed and tested wearable biosensors such as low- profile EMG electrodes to monitor muscular firing patterns within prosthetic sockets, and robotic limbs such as the active alignment prosthesis for efficient amputee gait. His current interest and focus is applied artificial intelligence, primarily modeling fused-sensor data for robotics perception and analysis applications.
