With the Navy’s fleet rapidly autonomizing, FTL’s proprietary autonomous risk assessment and navigation AI engine, TyFUN, enables the Navy to bring swarm autonomy to smaller patrol boats. TYFUN was developed to control large, unmanned surface vessels in open waters during extreme storm conditions by utilizing high band-width sensor-fusion, real-time world modeling, and machine learning threat evaluation to simulate sea state risk. FTL’s SpearFish, building on this capability, enables cooperative, multi-boat surface escort and patrol missions to be performed in a variety of operating conditions, including congested harbors and uncharted estuaries, during any type of weather. SpearFish also creates the additional capability of allowing human tasking and retasking, switching dynamically between full autonomy to boat-to-boat and land-to-boat Command-and-Control.
